Quickie sequel to the hit Young and Dangerous focuses this time on Chicken (Jordan Chan Siu-Chun), whose old boss and hot girlfriend (Chingmy Yau) from Taiwan try to make an inroads into Macau. However, they intend to do so at the cost of Chicken’s old gang, the Hung Hing Group run by reinstated (and ever benevolent) boss Simon Yam. Complicating things are a rivalry between Nam (Dior Cheng) and fellow Hung Hing member and nose-picker Tai Fei (Anthony Wong), who sides with the Taiwanese against his Hung Hing brothers.

Featuring more young triad angst and action, this sequel stands up to and even surpasses the original. However, that might signify more of an HK movie malaise than an actual stamp of quality. True, the film succeeds on more levels because it has less comic book posturing and concentrates more on actual realities of gang life. It ends rather anticlimactically, though. As the scheming bad girl from Taiwan, Chingmy Yau is pretty good, but that isn’t her real voice we’re hearing.
